STORM DEBRIS UPDATE – Oct. 5, 201712:45 p.m.CONTRACTOR EXPANDS CAPACITYTwo new storm debris vehicles began work in Apopka Thursday morning, increasing the City’s capacity to pick up storm debris.The new crew arrived in Apopka late Wednesday after driving 4½ days from northern California. The capacity of the two vehicles – a self-loader and an accompanying trailer – is certified at 125 cubic yards. With the ability to make about seven trips per day, the new crew can pick up an estimated 875 cubic yards per day. This raises the City’s overall capacity to pick up about 3,000 cubic yards per day.The City also is pursuing discussions with its prime debris removal contractor, CrowderGulf, about how to bring more removal crews to Apopka.
