The City of Apopka seek 200 volunteers to help build a community playground in just six hours on April 8.
The project on Lake Avenue is a partnership with the City of Apopka, the Rotary Club of Apopka, the Big Potato Foundation, the national non-profit KaBOOM! and Foresters Financial. Apopka children and adults helped to design their ideal playground at a special meeting on Jan. 24 at the Fran Carlton Center.
KaBOOM! created three proposed playgrounds, and project supporters along with the Apopka City Council selected one in February. Funding for the project is generously provided by Foresters Financial with a small match from the City of Apopka.
The playground is the 136th built by Foresters Financial and KaBOOM!. Through this partnership, more children will have the joyful childhood they deserve. Foresters Financial supports KaBOOM! in promoting and protecting a child’s right to active play at home, at school and in the community.
For years the playground on Lake Avenue has been badly aged largely unused because of minimal maintenance and upkeep. The City of Apopka reached out to the non-profit organization KaBOOM! for help.
Two preparation days are scheduled prior to the April 8 build day. CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP.
