Explorers

The Apopka Fire Department offers an Explorer Program through the Boy
Scouts of America, for High School youths, ages 14 through 18. The Apopka Fire
Department Explorer Program provides an opportunity to explore several avenues
in the EMS and fire fields, as well as technical rescue.
After participating in post activities for a minimum of one (1) year and
demonstrating an understanding of the Fire Department, the Explorers have the
opportunity to perform ride-a-longs. This creates an environment for more
advanced insight into job responsibilities.

The Apopka Explorer Program is a team that builds on individual strengths.
The instructors promote leadership skills and confidence that will influence the
Explorers’ everyday lives. This proves to be a rewarding experience not only for
the student, but for the instructors as well.
The registration period for the explorer program is each year during the
month of August. An application must be submitted for any student interested in
the fire and EMS fields.
